CRIME NEWS

  • Two men were arrested at the A Street resting site on April 8 at about 1:21 p.m. after a fight broke out when one man hit the other with a tree branch while the other displayed a gun—Bobby Swearingen, 40 year old, tried to flee and Kaleb Farmer, 34 year old, turned over his .357 revolver.  KDRV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Thursday, volunteers with Siskiyou Mountain Club cleared overgrown brush and fallen logs along nearly five miles of the Middle Fork National Recreation Trail above Applegate Lake. The cleanup addressed erosion and trail issues caused by recent storms and a long winter — and the club plans more events to maintain the path.  KOBI-TV

  • Oregon will receive over $4 million from a $335 million nationwide settlement with Mylan Inc.—the funds will support programs to treat addiction and reduce harm from opioids.  The Grants Pass Tribune

  • Josephine County Animal Control said on Thursday that five foxes tested positive for rabies after eight calls in two months about erratic behavior involving three incidents with people and four with pets; residents are advised to secure their pets and call authorities if they see unusual activity — officials urge caution to prevent further risk —.  KDRV
