  • Puck’s Donuts announced that longtime owners Kimo and Mim Siharath will retire Jan. 1 and pass the shop’s daily operations to daughter Vilay and her partner Nicholas (both prepared for the change), keeping the local breakfast favorite in good hands.  KOBI-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Wildlife Images Rehabilitation and Education Center in Grants Pass revealed its holiday naughty list today, naming animal ambassadors for amusing behaviors. Gilbert the grizzly bear made the list for destroying all trees in his habitat, while others were noted for mistaking fingers for food + chasing keepers’ ankles.  KOBI-TV

  • The IRS will raise the slot jackpot reporting threshold from $1,200 to $2,000 starting Jan. 1, 2026, easing casino hand-pay procedures and reducing paperwork on Oregon gaming floors—casinos are updating systems ahead of the change.  The Grants Pass Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • Federal inspectors confirmed metal contamination in nearly 2,000 pounds of Olympia Provisions Uncured Holiday Kielbasa and ordered retailers across Southern Oregon to remove the product from shelves — local stores now offer refunds or safe disposal options.  The Grants Pass Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • Snowfall is accumulating on the upper slopes of Mount Ashland as officials closely monitor conditions, and the ski area will open when 2.5 feet of settled snow is reached (after a three-day preparation period).   • Mt. Ashland will open Monday, Dec. 29 with limited terrain due to 70 percent lower snowfall; skiers and snowboarders can buy $18 lift tickets for Sonnet + Lithia Chairlifts operating 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  KDRV
