- ➤ This weekend, holiday events light up Grants Pass as the annual tree lighting kicks off Friday at the plaza on Fifth and G Street with a vendor fair and carriage rides; Santa will meet kids downtown after lighting the tree at 7 p.m., and Saturday night brings a Christmas parade on Sixth Street plus Rogue Winterfest viewing Saturday and Sunday. - ➤ Thunderstruck Custom Bikes and Star Body Works will host the 45th annual Southern Oregon Toy Run on Saturday, Dec. 6. Starting at 10:00 a.m. at Touvelle Lodge on Table Rock Road—local riders gather for coffee and pastries before riding to Eagle Lodge to deliver gifts for kids. KOBI-TV
- ➤ The Salvation Army Grants Pass Corps renovated its food pantry with help from content creator Mason Smith (dadsocial), completing a 14-hour remodel amid a 230% spike in demand. Lowe's and other sponsors donated supplies and industrial shelves to create a more welcoming space for nearly 5,000 visitors. KOBI-TV

- ➤ A fire broke out early Wednesday morning at Taylor’s Sausage in Cave Junction; quick response from Illinois Valley Fire District, Rural Metro Fire, and Josephine County AMR limited damage and no one was injured (the fire started from greasy towels). KOBI-TV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host the 27th Annual Community Nativity Festival on Williams Highway this weekend, featuring over 500 nativity sets from Mozambique, Peru, Thailand, Italy, and Mexico, along with live sculpting, musical performances, children’s crafts, and homemade cookies for all who attend. - ➤ Local emergency teams are working together to boost mental health crisis care in southern Oregon; the Jackson County Crisis Unit and Mercy Flights' Mobile Integrated Healthcare Unit train paramedics to manage emergencies + connect callers to 24/7 988 counselors. KDRV

- ➤ Rogue River Jr. Sr. High varsity boys' basketball team beat Lincoln Savage 35-27 in Murphy on Mon., Dec. 1. The school returned from Thanksgiving off-week (its first game) with a strong win to boost its season start. Rogue River Press
