ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Homeowners outside city limits are advised to inspect and pump their septic systems every three to five years to prevent costly repairs and environmental damage — slow drains and bad odors can signal a problem. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bureau of Land Management has opened a 36-day public comment period for a proposed 4,000-acre forest management project near Gold Hill and Rogue River to reduce wildfire risks and improve firefighter access. Kyle Sullivan said the agency seeks community feedback — a public meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Rogue River Library — for those who cannot attend to share their comments.  KOBI-TV

  • AllCare Health sent more than $241,000 to 12 food aid organizations in Jackson, Josephine, Curry and Douglas counties to help low-income families, seniors and unhoused residents access meals—this donation comes as food banks face growing demand amid rising food insecurity.  The Grants Pass Tribune
