Providence Cancer Center in Medford began using its new $2M HDR brachytherapy suite this week to cut wait times + boost treatment capacity.
The suite, funded by a Festival of Trees donation, will add 250 HDR treatments, 3,000 linear accelerator treatments and 100 surgeries yearly while keeping patients in one room for comfort + privacy.
A Southern Oregon family faces tough times as their 4-year-old son was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor and is set for a second major surgery next week while his mother began chemotherapy the same day after a rare pregnancy complication.
The family is also managing travel to Palo Alto for treatment — a GoFundMe has been started to help with their rising expenses.
