COMMUNITY NEWS

  • PATH coalition will hold its General Meeting on Tuesday, October 28 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Grants Pass City Council Chambers to discuss housing challenges and community recovery initiatives—Chris Goldman of Rogue Recovery Center will present the recovery support program as networking and food donations are encouraged.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • The county approved a renovation for Whitehorse Park Upper Loop that will widen campsites, add water and electricity, and redesign traffic flow while keeping the park’s natural look. Construction will begin soon and the project is expected to finish by August 30, 2026 — funding comes from a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant and the county’s Parks Capital Improvement Fund.  The Grants Pass Tribune

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas stations in Southern Oregon sell fuel additives that help clean engine parts—one bottle costs between $5 and $15. Good additives break down build-up in engines and may lower repair costs if used regularly.  The Grants Pass Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students at Grants Pass High School raised concerns during a public comment on Tuesday night — they called the dress code inconsistent and unfair, noting that it targets athletes and girls and disrupts classes. The school board voted to move forward on policy JFCA — leaving students to question how the rules will be enforced.  KDRV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gospel Rescue Mission admitted it made an error by giving $1,000 to a state representative’s campaign and asked for a refund. The group is now changing its policies to prevent similar mistakes—its leaders say the update will protect its nonprofit status.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Evans Valley Fire District completed the paperwork for a review of its ISO rating — a measure by the Insurance Services Office used to assess fire preparedness, and the rating is shown as one.  Rogue River Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Patients in America are facing long waits to see doctors because there are fewer doctors, more patients, and busy offices & the effects of a recent surge in patients. In Southern Oregon, people can go to urgent care, use telemedicine, or visit local health centers while leaders work to ease the delays.  The Grants Pass Tribune
