An editorial letter in today's paper urges Grants Pass and Josephine County residents to set aside party lines and talk like adults since local government decisions are made without proper public input—residents are called to unite and push back—if they want to avoid growing division and disorder.

Throughout October, red silhouettes (wooden cutouts painted in red) have been placed in storefronts and public spaces in Josephine County to honor domestic violence victims and raise awareness about the issue.

Local businesses host the displays to help residents learn about free support services available through WCST.

The Oregon Supreme Court ruled on October 2nd that a $3.2 million judgment against Josephine County Commissioner Chris Barnett and his company has grown to $4.8 million—mostly from accrued interest, fees, and court costs after nearly eight years of legal battles.

Barnett continues to serve on the county board as he faces ongoing legal and public challenges.
