  • Today, the Relentless Heroes Foundation hosts the 12th Annual Devastational Tournament at Grants Pass Golf Club to honor veterans and bring local families together. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Southern Oregon residents saw their Pacific Power bills nearly double after new rate adjustments took effect January 1—pushing household budgets to strain amid summer heat. Customers report that the increases, which include fees for wildfire safety and infrastructure upgrades, have left many unprepared for the sudden rise in costs.  The Grants Pass Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Southern Oregon Trade Careers Expo will be held Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Seven Feathers Convention Center and its adjacent outdoor exhibit grounds covering 9 acres in Canyonville from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; more than 2,500 job seekers will see 140 employers, unions, and training programs offering live demonstrations and career information. The free event includes a media and community tour at 11 a.m. (starting at the north parking lot entrance) and will feature industries such as agriculture, construction, healthcare, forestry, robotics, law enforcement, and transportation.  Medford Alert

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • This week, warm daytime temperatures will continue along I‑5 including Grants Pass while overnight cool conditions and possible frost in higher areas may affect early travel and outdoor work. Midweek dry weather will increase wildfire risk—regional agencies may issue notices and residents should check fire restrictions and be ready for shifting conditions.  The Grants Pass Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive on September 23 at Club Northwest at the Conference Center at 2160 NW Vine Street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.—local residents can help save lives by donating blood. Donors who give blood between September 22 and October 19 will receive a $10 Amazon gift card—this incentive supports the steady supply needed by area hospitals.  The Grants Pass Tribune
