- ➤ A team from Habitat for Humanity Rogue Valley returned from a five-day mission in Kenya where 13 volunteers built a 900-square-foot brick house for a grandmother, her husband, and her three grandchildren who had been living in a mud house after their daughter died. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local officials say the Sheriff’s Office has updated an online complaint tool to help residents report animal neglect or abuse in Josephine County. Some community members remain skeptical because past investigations led to few prosecutions — they worry this change may not bring better enforcement. The Grants Pass Tribune
- ➤ The Josephine Community Library District says there is no approved lease for the Grants Pass library even though the county claimed a stable lease was set on September 15. The district will continue working with county legal teams—if the termination clause is removed—and the lease vote is moved to September 23. The Grants Pass Tribune
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Residents are growing concerned about limited COVID vaccine access as current FDA protocols require a prescription from healthcare providers. Grants Pass Pharmacy reported many inquiries, and state health officials are meeting soon—hoping to allow pharmacies to offer the vaccine without a prescription for easier access to at-risk individuals.
