- ➤ The Oregon Department of Forestry lowered fire danger today from extreme to high across 1.8 million acres in Jackson and Josephine counties as cooler weather and rain eased some fire restrictions. Spark-emitting equipment such as chainsaws and lawn mowers can now be used before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m.—but debris burning and fireworks remain banned. KOBI-TV

- ➤ In Grants Pass, resident Michael Servant disputes the city’s handling of a homeless camp on 5th and 6th streets—he argues that managing the site violates nuisance codes, while officials say public property is treated differently.
