- ➤ Oregon Cheese Cave in Phoenix said ongoing tariffs forced its Swiss-imported best-selling cheese to be unavailable as shipments are suspended indefinitely, and shop owner Melodie Picard said rising shipping and packaging costs now push small orders to $30,000+. KOBI-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jessica Engle, a former executive at Yurok Telecommunications Corporation, pleaded guilty to stealing over $500,000 from the Yurok Tribe by taking about $579,574 for her personal use—sentencing is set for January 14. The Grants Pass Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Former Josephine County Commissioner John West was found guilty of violating campaign finance law after a state judge and the SOS Elections Division ruled he failed to report spending on print and in-kind ads during his recall campaign—he later filed lawsuits against recall supporters. Voters had removed him from office after nearly two-thirds backed the recall vote. The Grants Pass Tribune
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Oregon joined Washington and California to create a West Coast health alliance that will set vaccine guidelines—this comes as officials react to staff cuts and other changes at the CDC. The new alliance will use panels of scientists and health experts to offer evidence-based advice, helping rural areas in Southern Oregon manage vaccine access. The Grants Pass Tribune
