- ➤ Seniors, caregivers and community members will meet at the Josephine County Fairgrounds on Friday, September 12 for the Southern Oregon Senior Resource Fair, a free all-day event offering health guidance and aging information such as Alzheimer’s, dementia, chronic pain, elder law and Medicare/Medicaid. The event will feature a Veteran Recognition Ceremony at 10 a.m.—hosted by NCOA—and a Disaster Preparedness Event at 1 p.m. with first responders sharing emergency readiness tips. - ➤ The Applegate Valley will host the Jacksaphine Count(r)y Fair from September 19 to September 28—featuring food, art, music, sports and outdoor fun at different local spots. Organized by A Greater Applegate, the festival will bring together local farmers, winemakers and artists to celebrate the area’s rich heritage. The Grants Pass Tribune
- ➤ The Josephine County Historical Society will lead historic downtown walking tours on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1:30 p.m.—tickets cost $10 and must be reserved at the JCHS Research Library/Bookstore or online as author Taylor Roberts and local docents guide participants through key sites linked to the new book. - ➤ Southern Oregon singer and songwriter Danielle Kelly announced her new single—a cover of 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' reimagined as a jazz ballad—with its music video set to premiere on September 5. She is working on original tracks and planning live shows under her DJ persona Sparklepants as part of her expanding musical projects. The Grants Pass Tribune
- ➤ Josephine Community Library now displays a playful sculpture—Beary Tales—showing bears with books that was unveiled on July 18 with support from Evergreen Federal Bank and local ambassadors; it remains as a permanent installation to boost literacy during the summer reading program. - ➤ Residents in Grants Pass and across Southern Oregon are buzzing as the Powerball jackpot climbs to an estimated 1.3 billion after no ticket matched the numbers on September 1—local stores report brisk ticket sales and the jackpot will roll over to today's drawing with a cash option of about 589 million. The Grants Pass Tribune
