  • Downtown Grants Pass is set to host its next First Friday celebration on September 5 — shops will extend hours and local artists, food vendors, and performers will bring art, music and special deals to the streets from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  The Grants Pass Tribune

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters contained a fast-moving wildfire that burned 2.9 acres on Moon Mountain just after 6:30 p.m. Friday — the blaze threatened homes near Spalding Avenue and led to a Level 1 Be Ready notice while multiple agencies worked together and Pacific Power temporarily shut off high-voltage lines as crews continued mop-up operations.  The Grants Pass Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • Based in Southern Oregon, the Black Alliance for Social Empowerment will hold a Comedy Jam fundraiser at the Holly Theater on September 5—featuring comedians from NBC’s Last Comic Standing and Rogue Valley icon DJ Gemini. Tickets start around $23.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On August 28, Geodomestic withdrew its grant application after errors in coordinating partner agreements—city staff removed the agenda item from the September 3 meeting. Councilors will meet on September 2 to decide whether to cancel the current Request for Proposal and revise the program.  The Grants Pass Tribune
