- ➤ A Grants Pass man was indicted by a grand jury for commercial burglaries committed between September 2024 and January 2025—authorities continue to seek public help as warrants remain for his arrest. KDRV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Oregon Vortex tourist attraction in Gold Hill is closed for urgent repairs and may remain closed for the rest of the year until repairs ensure visitor safety—engineers are repairing dangerous rock formations from nearby Sardine Creek during the allowed June–September 15 work window. KOBI-TV
- ➤ Alice Diehl (2025’s Ms. Wheelchair Oregon) from Grants Pass is representing Oregon at the national stage in the 54th annual Ms. Wheelchair America pageant in Michigan where she will advocate for homeless people and vulnerable communities; she will join 18 state titleholders (competing in panel judging on Thursday, delivering speeches on Friday, and awaiting the crowning on Saturday). ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A team led by the Siskiyou Mountain Club worked for 8 days to restore 26 miles of overgrown trails—bringing back safe paths in Mountain Lakes Wilderness within Fremont-Winema National Forest. The project was funded by community donors and more volunteer trips will be planned this fall to keep the trails in good shape. KOBI-TV

- ➤ Sen. Ron Wyden toured a new health training facility at RCC Redwood Campus Monday—where he saw the renovated E building that will offer dental, nursing, and phlebotomy programs—to mark a $3.95 million remodel funded by congressional appropriations, with a ribbon cutting set for August 26th. The facility is expected to boost local jobs and meet the growing need for health workers. KOBI-TV
