- ➤ The Non-Commissioned Officers Association organizes the annual Rogue Valley Vet Run to support veterans by raising funds that help prevent suicide. The race, which brings together families, runners, and wheelchair participants, will be held soon—each dollar raised aids veteran-run nonprofits in providing essential care. The Grants Pass Tribune
- ➤ The 2025 4TheKids Livestock Auction at the Josephine County Fairgrounds raised a record $945,000 from the sale of 214 animals raised by local youth. The event + which also garnered over $147,000 in extra donations and donated more than 14,730 pounds of meat to food programs, showed strong community support for youth agriculture. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ This week marks the anniversary of when over 50 wagons, led by Captain Levi Scott and David Goff, left the Oregon Trail on August 10, 1846 to form what became known as the Applegate Trail. The new route offered a safer option than the dangerous river crossing on the old trail and changed how pioneers moved to Oregon. The Grants Pass Tribune
