ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 23 year old woman, Angelina Marie Odell, died Wednesday evening near Grants Pass when her car rolled over on Jaynes Drive — investigators said the vehicle left the road while driving toward New Hope Road.  Medford Alert

CRIME NEWS

  • The Oregon State Police Fish—Wildlife Division is asking the public for help identifying the person suspected of illegally taking and wasting a buck deer in the area, and anyone with details is urged to contact authorities immediately.  Rogue River Press
  • The Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team raided two properties in Cave Junction last Wednesday on Holland Loop Road, seizing about 5,000 marijuana plants and 4 firearms while arresting a 34-year-old man who faces charges for unlawful marijuana possession and manufacture — both sites had multiple code violations.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A state housing law that once applied only to urban areas expanded on July 1st to include rural and non-resource lands in Josephine County. Local planners must now follow strict, measurable criteria for housing proposals — the county is expected to apply for state grant funds to update its planning documents.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Oregon’s search and rescue canine teams have been deployed in response to an official request through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact—officials said the teams are highly trained to help during emergencies.  Rogue River Press
  • State Rep. Dwayne Yunker from District 3 said an ethics investigation into complaints about his March remarks was an expensive way to silence his speech—he argued that the probe sets a dangerous precedent for taxpayer-funded reviews.  KOBI-TV
  • On July 30, 2025, District Attorney Josh Eastman issued a formal order against Josephine County after investigative journalist Jay Meredith’s requests for detailed salary and benefits information were met with delayed, vague responses — the ruling required removal of improper redactions and warned of a possible $200 fine if future delays occur.
