  • The Josephine County Fair opens today with free admission and events from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM that feature rides, live music, exhibits and livestock shows; a complimentary shuttle from Rogue Community College helps visitors arrive easily — families can look forward to bull riding, bingo and lumberjack shows as part of this annual celebration.  The Grants Pass Tribune

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash on US-199 near milepost 20.79 just south of Selma closed one lane today, and emergency crews are working on the scene as officials warn that a full closure may occur pending cleanup.  Medford Alert

  • Fat Kid Food Co.—a Southern Oregon food truck based in Ashland—is set to compete on Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race against nine teams for a $50,000 prize. The season premiere airs Sunday, August 3 at 9 p.m. starting in Savannah.  KOBI-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • On July 23, the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team along with federal + local agencies broke up an illegal grow operation on Holland Loop Road in Cave Junction, seizing nearly 5,000 marijuana plants, four firearms, and arresting 34-year-old Joseph Aaron Barany.  KDRV

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 4th annual Southern Oregon Pacific Islanders Summer Celebration takes place Sunday, August 3 at Oakdale Middle School starting at 3:00 p.m. and features live music, cultural performances, island food, vendor booths and games — all under the theme 'Embrace and Hold On to Your Culture' to engage the Pacific Islander community while educating local residents.  KOBI-TV

  • Drivers in Grants Pass face a road closure on A Street between Dean Drive and Baker Drive that began Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. and will remain in effect until today at 7:00 p.m. — construction crews are installing a new sewer manhole, and detour routes have been provided.  The Grants Pass Tribune
