EDUCATION NEWS

  • Southern Oregon schools are facing cuts and larger classes as they cope with budget shortfalls from the end of pandemic relief funding and delays in federal aid—causing teacher layoffs and removed programs in Grants Pass and nearby areas. Lawmakers approved a new funding package for the 2025–27 biennium, but the funds will not come in time to cover current deficits.  The Grants Pass Tribune

In Southern Oregon, groups in Jackson, Josephine, Klamath and Lake counties received funding for projects such as a STEM mini maker space at the Rogue Valley Family YMCA in Medford + other youth programs.  KDRV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oregon’s Senate Bill 537 passed the House and Senate and now awaits Governor Tina Kotek’s signature, which will require healthcare facilities to offer annual training and support for preventing workplace violence.
