  • The City of Grants Pass is asking local artists to create whimsical utility box decorations that are fun for families and highlight nature; artists will receive $350 for their design work. The project in collaboration with the Oregon Department of Transportation aims to brighten city streets — proposals are being accepted now.  KOBI-TV
  • PATH will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, July 22 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at City Council Chambers—after the core session ending at 4:30 p.m., attendees will network and hear Jeromy Ford update on the Stepping Stones Stabilization Center as they also can drop off food items for the local food bank.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Local emergency crews rescued a group that floated the Rogue River after dark and encountered newly fallen debris—this incident reminds residents to use life jackets and proper safety gear when they go out on the river.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Al Lightman, a 103-year-old World War II veteran, celebrated his birthday at Pioneer Village in Jacksonville with friends he made over the past 9 years. He joined the military at 16 two months after Pearl Harbor and taught flight skills to students who later became fighter pilots—he is also known for his love of donuts on Fridays.  KOBI-TV

  • A 35-year-old man was arrested for drug and water theft charges when officers from the Josephine County Marijuana Enforcement Team searched two properties on Waldo Road on June 28 and destroyed 9,000 marijuana plants—they also found 1,300 pounds of processed marijuana, a gun, and code violations.  KOBI-TV

  • City leaders and local business owners are planning a new campaign to boost tourism by showcasing the Rogue River, historic downtown, and outdoor adventures. They will launch targeted ads and coordinated events so that more visitors arrive on weekends and year‐round — a step aimed at strengthening the local economy.  The Grants Pass Tribune

  • Firefighters in southern Oregon are battling lightning-caused wildfires in the Grizzly Complex that began on July 7, with nearly all fires lined and crews reinforcing containment lines while extinguishing hot spots. Helicopters and aerial water bladders are used to cool zones—officials warn that unauthorized drone use near active fire areas is illegal.  Medford Alert
