🚧 Accidents
During the early hours of July 12, a nighttime rafting trip near Pickett Creek turned dangerous when a tree strainer trapped rafts on the Rogue River—prompting a coordinated rescue effort by more than 100 responders from Grants Pass Fire, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, AMR-Josephine County, and Rural Metro Fire—and rescuers accounted for all rafters with no injuries reported.
🎭 Culture
The Aggregate Collective will host its second annual Loop Festival at The Hivve in downtown Grants Pass from August 11 to 14, featuring new plays written for young adult performers with thirty local actors taking part in workshops.
The festival will end with public staged readings on August 14 led by recognized directors — inviting community members, educators, and theatre fans to engage in shaping future productions.

Southern Oregon faces a strong heatwave with an Extreme Heat Warning in effect through at least Tuesday as temperatures stay high and little relief is expected overnight.
Visitors to national parks, wineries and cultural events are urged to plan for cooler early hours—residents are advised to drink water and use cooling shelters if needed.
