  • Applegate River Golf & RV Resort near Grants Pass will host an Independence Day glow golf celebration on July 4 that turns its par-3 course into a neon-lit playground. CULTURE NEWS

  • Clarion Theatre Company will present its fourth annual fall fundraiser called 'Let's Make a Scene' on November 8 and 9 at Calvary Crossroads Church in Grants Pass to show early works by local playwrights and songwriters. Ticket sales, a silent auction and donations will pay for rehearsal space and design costs — supporting more local shows.  The Grants Pass Tribune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • BLM, Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest and the Oregon Department of Forestry are tightening campfire rules on the Wild section of the Rogue River to boost public safety and protect natural resources. The new restrictions begin at 12:01 a.m. Friday, June 27 and run until November 30, allowing campfires only in raised fire pans free of vegetation — all ashes must be carried out.  KDRV

  • Grants Pass is seeking a new member for its Urban Area Planning Commission to guide decisions on subdivisions and city growth as development pressure increases. The four-year appointment requires forms to be submitted by 5 p.m. on July 18 — the commission will review candidates on July 23, interviews will be held on August 4, and a final vote will take place on August 6.  The Grants Pass Tribune
