  • The City of Grants Pass will host Real Talk: A Forum for Local Business on Monday, June 23 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Udders Ice Cream and Gelato, where business owners and residents will share ideas on updated permitting timelines, new start-up incentives, and downtown revitalization + the city will use this feedback to shape upcoming economic initiatives.  The Grants Pass Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor Clint Scherf issued a formal apology Thursday after a live microphone captured an off-color remark at the June 18 city council meeting—he said the comment was not aimed at anyone and took full responsibility. No further council action is planned and local officials noted his swift response as a positive example of accountability.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Emergency officials urge residents in wildfire zones to review Oregon's three-level evacuation system (be ready: gather necessary documents, supplies and make pet plans; be set: prepare to evacuate immediately; go now: leave without delay) as fire season remains active.  KOBI-TV
  • Josephine County's board finalized the 2025-2026 budget on June 19 by reducing the General Fund cut from 12% to 5% and exempting key departments such as the Sheriff's Office, which received a $503,200 boost to hire three new deputies — officials said they may add funds later to meet the target of five new officers. The budget also restored funds for the OSU Extension Service to support local agriculture and education.  The Grants Pass Tribune
