- ➤ Mayor Clint Scherf issued a formal apology Thursday after a live microphone captured an off-color remark at the June 18 city council meeting—he said the comment was not aimed at anyone and took full responsibility. - ➤ Josephine County's board finalized the 2025-2026 budget on June 19 by reducing the General Fund cut from 12% to 5% and exempting key departments such as the Sheriff's Office, which received a $503,200 boost to hire three new deputies — officials said they may add funds later to meet the target of five new officers.
