GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Grants Pass is facing a lawsuit from Disability Rights Oregon and Oregon Law Center over its January 7 decisions to close the J Street campsite and limit hours at 7th Street—critics say these actions left many homeless residents without safe shelter. City officials say the measures were driven by public safety concerns and liability—and a court injunction now restricts further enforcement while legal experts warn this could delay long-term solutions.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Local organizations in Grants Pass are preparing to compete for a new grant program designed to ease the city's responsibility for resting sites, with U-Turn for Christ and Pathways to Stability outlining their proposals.
