- ➤ Mt. Ashland Association is hosting an online webinar — scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 12 — to review the past winter season and preview plans including a major chairlift replacement in 2026 while answering public questions. The mountain will also launch summer programs with drive-in movie nights, sip and paint workshops, a summer concert series and a free disc golf course on Siskiyou Crest. The Grants Pass Tribune

- ➤ ODF has responded to four fires in the first four days of fire season and confirmed all were human caused while urging residents to follow restrictions, including bans on debris burning + fireworks, as temperatures are expected to reach triple digits this weekend. KOBI-TV
- ➤ A section of Galice Access Rd is closed due to an ongoing landslide that has caused large boulders to fall — Bureau of Land Management crews advise travelers to use Highway 199 or Peavine/Serpentine Springs as alternate routes. KDRV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Southern Oregon students showed strong environmental science skills when Logos Public Charter School won the state title at the Oregon Envirothon for the fourth consecutive year and will head to international competition in Canada this summer—Eagle Point High School finished third at the event in Silverton. - ➤ The City of Grants Pass is recruiting two residents with experience managing large payrolls for a task force that will review the non-bargaining compensation and classification system for city employees. Applicants must submit materials by 5 p.m. on June 13 (through the City Administration Office at 101 N.W. A Street or online) and appointments will be made on June 18 (at the City Council meeting). - ➤ The Oregon Health Authority reported that 14.5% of residents avoided care last year due to rising costs — about one in five in Southwest Oregon skipped dental treatment. Local health providers warned that delaying care could lead to costlier emergency visits later — overall healthcare spending from 2022 to 2023 exceeded state targets since 2018. KOBI-TV
