COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Friends of the Library in Grants Pass launched an eviction watch campaign after new county commissioners — Chris Barnett and Ron Smith — terminated the branch lease in January and sparked fears of eviction. The group will monitor the commissioners' actions with a countdown clock website going live on Thursday, June 5 as 30 weeks pass until the lease ends on December 31.  KOBI-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Grants Pass police are searching for Minnay Smith—a missing 15-year-old girl last seen on May 24 at Club Northwest on NW Vine St after an argument with her father over her phone—who is described as 5’8, 160 pounds with hazel eyes and light brown hair while wearing a black sweatshirt with black and white pajama pants, and they urge anyone with information to call 541-450-6260.  KOBI-TV
  • Sheriff’s deputies arrested four people on Saturday morning after responding to a burglary in progress on the 3800 block of Holland Loop Road in Cave Junction—authorities said two of the three remaining suspects have been identified while the investigation continues.  Medford Alert

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On June 2, 2025, the county committee for 4H and Extension services approved a budget for 2026 and set a tax rate to help fund OSU Extension programs and 4H youth services—pending a vote by county commissioners on June 18.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • The City of Grants Pass will hold a public forum on Monday, June 9th at 6:00 p.m. at the City Council Chambers—101 NW A Street—to explain its new Homeless Solutions Competitive Grant Program and gather feedback on funding alternatives for unsheltered homelessness. City staff will review past response efforts and detail the competitive funding process while residents can ask one question in person or participate via a live online stream.  The Grants Pass Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • AllCare Health awarded a $35,000 grant to the Women’s Crisis Support Team to help domestic and sexual violence survivors by expanding emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy and community outreach services in Josephine, northern Jackson and southern Douglas counties. The grant will support the Rise to End Violence campaign and trauma-informed care for those affected by abuse.  The Grants Pass Tribune
