  • Environmental groups urged Gov. Kotek to review plans for a proposed gravel mine near Grave Creek in Sunny Valley on Monday, June 1, renewing a 14-year dispute that could affect water supplies and future development.  The Grants Pass Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Initiative Petition 28 (the PEACE Act) has collected over 120,000 signatures and is headed to the November ballot if state officials verify them. The measure would expand animal cruelty laws and affect local hunting, fishing, and ranching practices that support our community.  The Grants Pass Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • Families planning water activities must complete safety checks before rafting or kayaking this summer. Local experts advise wearing a properly fitted life jacket (to prevent cold water shock) and inspecting gear carefully before use to avoid accidents on scenic rivers.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Asante held its first walk for hope in Grants Pass where about 900 people walked a mile to honor cancer survivors, caregivers, and those lost to the illness. The event raised $90K to expand the family house for travelers needing affordable treatment.  KOBI-TV
