COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Boatnik returns this Memorial Day weekend to Grants Pass with jet boats on the Rogue River, a downtown parade, and a military flyover marking the start of festivities – pre-sale tickets for concerts, carnival wristbands, and rides are now available to help families save money.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Dutch Bros hosts its Drink One for Dane fundraiser today as it returns to donating one dollar per drink sold to support ALS research and care in Grants Pass + the event honors founder Dane Boersma’s legacy.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Residents, businesses, and civic groups can order engraved bricks by 5 p.m. on June 1 to mark their place in the Owl Plaza project near 5th and H streets. The $250 bricks (with names limited to 18 characters per line) will become part of a permanent public space in downtown.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Community leaders and service groups will meet on Tuesday, May 26 at the Grants Pass City Council Chambers to discuss homelessness support and share updates about local resources (including a donation drive for the Food Bank) and network for new partnerships (with a presentation by The Hub’s Matthew Buchanan).  The Grants Pass Tribune

CULTURE NEWS

  • Peruvian Point — known for its spicy chicken tacos and special sauce — draws praise at Area 61 in Merlin. Locals enjoy this food truck because its fresh, balanced flavors add a valued touch to our local food scene.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • At Morrison’s Rogue River Lodge in Galice (nestled along the Rogue River), guests sampled a four-course seasonal dinner that paired fresh local ingredients with nods to its cinematic heritage, including ties to The River Wild.  The Grants Pass Tribune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Grants Pass announced a wildfire prevention effort funded by a $296,000 State Fire Marshal grant to help homeowners create defensible space in high-risk areas. Fire Rescue teams will begin notifying residents in the coming weeks and scheduling free risk assessments.  The Grants Pass Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fire season begins today at 12:01 a.m. in Grants Pass as new restrictions aim to reduce wildfire risks. Smoking and open fires are banned in areas with flammable vegetation while certain outdoor cooking and equipment operations remain allowed (if safety tools are nearby).  The Grants Pass Tribune
