  • A local resident has built 18 Little Free Libraries across the Rogue Valley over the past 12 years to boost reading and community connection. He works with local businesses and neighbors + crafts unique designs before planning to build more.  KDRV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Josephine Community Library and the Oregon Jewish Museum are hosting a two-part series titled 'The Holocaust Remembered: Who Will Write Our History.' The program begins tomorrow, May 14, 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Grants Pass High School and continues May 21 at the library (admission is free).  The Grants Pass Tribune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Oregon Department of Forestry announced that fire season will start Friday, May. 15 on 1.8 million acres in Jackson and Josephine counties as dry conditions raise wildfire risks. Restrictions on debris burning and nearby fireworks will be enforced to help reduce human-caused fires.  Medford Alert

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Community members gathered outside the Josephine County Courthouse today to honor fallen law enforcement officers during National Police Appreciation Week. Officials from the Sheriff's Office + Grants Pass Police and Oregon State Police gave remarks in tribute to their legacy.  KDRV
  • County officials announced that waste disposal rates will rise by 4.8% on June 1 as higher fuel and equipment costs require maintaining the Kerby Transfer Station, while a Household Hazardous Waste Event is scheduled on June 6 at 1381 Redwood Avenue (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.).  The Grants Pass Tribune
