Good morning, Grants Pass.

Grants Pass police arrested 38 year old Derek Daniels about 4:34 p.m. on Monday after he allegedly struck a woman and two parked vehicles in the Albertsons parking lot on Allen Creek Road, leaving her seriously injured and taken to Three Rivers Medical Center—police say the investigation is ongoing.

Businesses across the nation are adding extra fees — such as credit card and fuel surcharges — to offset rising costs, and consumers in Grants Pass are noticing these charges on their bills.

Lawmakers in some states are planning new rules to ensure these fees are clearly explained, raising questions about fairness.

The City of Grants Pass announced its street sweeping schedule for the week of April 27; Zone 11 was swept on April 28 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Zones 1 and 6 will be swept on May 1—residents must remove vehicles, trash cans, and other obstacles from the streets before sweeping hours. Officials noted that weather may delay the schedule, so residents should be prepared for possible changes.

The Mt. Ashland Trail Run will happen on Saturday, September 13 and will offer flexible race options with 3.7-mile loops and nearly 1,000 feet of climbing—while Oktoberfest celebrations at Mt. Ashland Ski Area will add live music, food, and family activities.

Registrations are open now for participants from our local area and beyond who want to enjoy the rugged beauty of the Siskiyou Mountains.
