  • State labor officials confirmed that Oregon’s minimum wage will rise by 50 cents to about $15.55 per hour starting July 1, with nonurban counties keeping lower rates + full-time workers gaining roughly $80 more per month before taxes.  The Grants Pass Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Josephine Community Library in Grants Pass hosts its final Declaration 250 session, The Declaration in a New Millennium, on Thursday, May 7 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (the free event features educator Lois MacMillan and a traveling exhibit on the document's impact).  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Rogue Community College and four partner schools received state clearance to develop a Bachelor of Applied Science in Education for local students in Jackson and Josephine counties, offering a four-year teaching degree to help ease teacher shortages.
