CRIME NEWS

  • On Tuesday, April 22, a deputy from the Josephine County Sheriff's Office encountered a wanted suspect with a felony warrant near the O’Brien Country Store in O’Brien — Clinten Anthony Robertson from Grants Pass evaded the deputy.  Rogue River Press
  • On April 23 at 9:31 p.m., a male adult reported being stabbed during an argument on the 1700 block of SW G Street in Grants Pass—emergency responders treated the victim and transported him to a hospital for life-threatening injuries while police continue investigating and search for a suspect known to both parties.  Medford Alert
  • Law enforcement arrested Haley Noel Nelson (32) and Carlos Figueroa (28) in Cave Junction on April 23 for custodial interference after Nelson took her two young children from Georgia without legal custody, and a vehicle search found a firearm in plain view that led to Figueroa's arrest for being a convicted felon in possession while DHS ensured the children were safe.  Medford Alert

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Oregon Department of Emergency Management is reviewing state projects after FEMA canceled the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities grant program on April 4. Projects including the Grants Pass water treatment plant relocation—one of many affected—may face delays or cancellation as officials work to find alternative funding.  Medford Alert
  • The City of Grants Pass announced a nine-day open burn window from May 3 through May 11 for residents to dispose of yard debris by burning and stated that permits are required. Permits can be applied for online or in person starting Tuesday, April 30 (office hours 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.) while residents should verify available burning days with the Josephine County Burn Line (541-476-9663, option 3).  The Grants Pass Tribune
