- ➤ Residents of Grants Pass are advised to plan alternate routes as H Street will be closed to traffic between 5th and 6th Streets from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 20 for Diamond's Annual 420 Block Party—this closure also includes the Owl Parking Lot at H and 5th. - ➤ Local companies Saxon Painting Company and PPG Paint donated funds to repaint the bleachers at the Covered Arena at the Josephine County Fairgrounds, a venue built with help from the Sheriff’s Mounted Posse and used for youth clubs and rodeo events. - ➤ James Ross—arrested on Sunday at the Robertson bridge boat landing— was charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon after a March incident on the 1200 block of Rogue River Highway left a 57-year-old man with head trauma and he later died after being taken to a local hospital. - ➤ Today, as warm weather draws many to the Rogue River, the Jackson County Sheriff's office warns that conditions at the TouVelle Boat Ramp — with shifting currents, heavy debris and changing depths — make the river dangerous for beginners who ignore safety tips. KDRV
- ➤ Firefighters from Northern California and Southern Oregon met Tuesday to share lessons from last fire season and review the weather outlook for the coming wildfire season—Natalie Weber from ODF said these partnerships ease quick decision-making. - ➤ The Grants Pass Police Department is hosting a prescription drug take back event on April 26 where residents can drop off unused prescription medication at the police department parking lot (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.). KOBI-TV
- ➤ USDA cuts eliminated two programs that helped schools and food banks buy local produce—Rogue Valley Farm to School said the loss of funding has hurt school meals and local farm sales. The nonprofit said it will cut back programs like field trips and school gardens next year and is asking community members to support state lawmakers. KDRV
- ➤ An old 155 mm artillery shell was discovered Monday on private property in White City and was safely detonated by the Oregon National Guard. The round was consistent with those fired during World War II training at Camp White — once a major military base — and its safe detonation recalls the area's explosive military past. KDRV
