- ➤ Ray Sanders—known for his bright smile—is celebrating his ninetieth birthday today at work at the Chevron on Redwood Highway in Grants Pass. After retiring from nearly 50 years as a supervisor, he has stayed active since 1993 by working at several gas stations to share his positive energy with customers. KOBI-TV
- ➤ Hearts With a Mission is hosting its Superhero Event on Saturday, May 3 at Valley of the Rogue State Park and is asking local volunteers to help—roles include parking and setup starting at 6:30 a.m., water stations at 7:00 a.m., dunk tank and kids' zone work from 8:00 a.m., and cleanup from 11:45 a.m. Interested community members can contact Megan Jiles by calling 5419443350 or emailing [email protected]. - ➤ The City of Grants Pass lost a $50 million federal grant meant for a new water treatment facility and must now reconsider plans that were set to start in May. City Council will meet soon to decide if the project will be delayed, cut back, or find new funding options — a change that could lead to higher costs for local residents. The Grants Pass Tribune
- ➤ The Josephine County Fair Board changed its April meeting to Monday, April 21 at 6:00 p.m. in the Floral Building at the Josephine County Fairgrounds due to Easter holiday conflicts—regular board meetings will resume in May. The Grants Pass Tribune
- ➤ Josephine County officials are restructuring advisory boards and asking longtime members to reapply, which has raised concerns about fairness and transparency. Many residents worry that these changes might replace experienced voices with political allies and are calling for greater public involvement. The Grants Pass Tribune
- ➤ On April 11th, American Mineral Research sent a legal notice to county officials—accusing Josephine County of causing over $20 million in damages by not following proper mining lease rules. The company says the County must act correctly to keep future mineral revenue that could help local law enforcement. The Grants Pass Tribune
- ➤ Grants Pass City Hall has begun a major roofing project that will continue through the summer, and temporary fencing restricts access and parking areas, including the lot between City Hall and the Josephine County Courthouse—visitors are advised to plan ahead.
