CRIME NEWS

  • Grants Pass Police said 39-year-old Allison Jenkins stabbed her husband on the 1400 block of East Park Street Tuesday afternoon before fleeing; officers later arrested her near Morrison Park and charged her with second-degree robbery and assault while the victim was treated at Three Rivers Medical Center (injuries were not life-threatening).  KDRV
  • Authorities captured fugitive David Gilbert Brazil on March 31 in San Antonio—he now awaits extradition to Josephine County and faces charges for kidnapping, unlawful weapon use, assault, strangulation, coercion, and unlawful motor vehicle use from a 2021 incident.  KDRV
  • Joshua Robert Miller, who spent the last four and a half years in Jackson County Jail after shooting and killing two men at a hemp farm on the 15000 block of East Evans Creek Road in November 2020, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 20 years.  Rogue River Press
  • A fugitive in connection with a 2021 Josephine County case, David Gilbert Brazil, was arrested on March 31 in San Antonio, Texas following a multi-agency investigation by the sheriff’s office and USMS—he now faces charges including kidnapping and assault while awaiting extradition.  Medford Alert

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Bureau of Land Management re-opened the Rogue River National Recreation Trail after crews built a safe path around a large landslide. Wildland firefighters from BLM’s Veteran Crew 10—recreation staff helped clear the route so visitors can return safely.  Rogue River Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On April 8, the Grants Pass City Council held a workshop where City Manager Aaron Cubic proposed keeping two existing resting sites and adding two new sites in nearby parking lots for unhoused residents, and the Council approved the motion with a 6-1 vote. A formal resolution to expand the sites is on the agenda for April 16 at 6 p.m. — if passed, city staff will begin converting the parking lots.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • The Grants Pass City Council will vote next week on a resolution to add resting sites for unhoused residents, with the vote scheduled for Wednesday April 16 at 6 p.m.—after a workshop on April 8 agreed to keep current sites open and add two parking lot locations.  KDRV
