  • Josephine County Food Bank has seen a drop in dry goods inventory since the start of the month due to federal funding cuts—warehouse manager Matt Stevens said fewer produce and meat deliveries are expected. The food bank will launch campaigns to find new funds to support one in five local residents who rely on its services.  KOBI-TV

  • Josephine County is reviewing new geological surveys that show untapped minerals could boost local jobs and tax revenue—residents worry about environmental damage and loss of community control.  The Grants Pass Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Oregon Department of Education ended several literacy and math programs in March—affecting over 500,000 students and 197 school districts and cutting roughly $3.5 million in funding. The department is now reviewing its decision and will look for ways to reverse the move.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Josephine County residents have grown frustrated with local leaders for not holding regular public meetings and being transparent about decisions. Critics say officials must reopen community dialogue soon—potentially through additional forums or recall efforts—to rebuild trust.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • The Josephine Community Library board and county officials remain deadlocked over lease talks for the Grants Pass Library branch after a county email about storing library property raised confusion. Library Board Vice President Rachele Selvig said the board made several meeting offers and even submitted a $1 lease proposal for five years while Commissioner Chris Barnett maintained the current lease is valid until December 31—hoping that both parties will eventually meet in person.  KOBI-TV
