- ➤ Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity kicked off its 2025 Women’s Build with a celebration on Thursday night, where volunteers learned about building lessons, fundraising contests, and women build days (activities that lead to a project day in May). The build will give a new home to the Jorgensen family (Ana and her three sons) and help women gain skills to fight poverty housing. KOBI-TV
- ➤ ROC Food Pantry named Shonna Bouteller its new Executive Director as she takes over from Brian Bouteller, who led the center through the COVID-19 crisis. A Grants Pass native and former teacher, she plans to expand services by adding case management programs to help clients—she also asked for donations, food supplies, and volunteers. - ➤ Gold Dust Day Festival will celebrate Gold Hill’s 130th anniversary on Saturday, June 7th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Gold Hill—featuring an IOOF pancake breakfast, a marching band parade, a street fair, a classic car show and live music—organized by the Gold Hill Historical Society. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Josephine County Public Health Officer Dr. David Candelaria confirmed four rabies cases in foxes in the past week in the Selma and Cave Junction area, which is unusual since rabies is usually seen in bats (the common host). A nine-year-old girl was bitten by a fox and received treatment while another person reported a bite to their shoe; officials advise residents to keep at least 25 feet from wild animals (foxes seen in daytime may pose a risk).
