A Grants Pass family evacuated their home this evening after heavy rainfall—over three inches in the past 24 hours—caused severe flooding that left the house uninhabitable and the family temporarily staying with relatives as they plan to assess the damage soon.

Flooding in Josephine County on Monday, March 17th, 2025 forced emergency crews to rescue stranded residents and secure Fort Vannoy Elementary School after a levee near Upper River Road at Hunt Lane broke.

Multiple teams from local agencies performed welfare checks and coordinated evacuations in areas including Merlin and neighborhoods along Abegg Road, Ward Road—Barker Drive as floodwaters continued to rise.

Senator Merkley held town hall meetings on Sunday in Jackson County at Ashland High School and in Josephine County at Redwood College where hundreds gathered to ask questions and hear him thank Lomakatsi for its forestry work—he will continue his tour on Tuesday in Morrow County—adding more local input.
