  • Yesterday, the Grants Pass and Josephine County Chamber of Commerce held its Chamber Awards Banquet at the Boys & Girls Club, honoring executives from the local business community. Steve Roe received the Lifetime Achievement Award and Trever Yarrish was named Person of the Year, with Pacific Power sponsoring the event.  KOBI-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Pacific Power is investing in grid upgrades to boost wildfire preparedness + reduce outages by installing 250 to 300 miles of covered conductor and operating a 24/7 Wildfire Intelligence Center in Medford while using AI in Josephine County to monitor ignition sources.  KDRV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials will convert the downtown parking lot at Fifth and H into Owl Plaza, a flexible event space that preserves parking. Construction by Vitus Construction, Inc. will cause closures (Mar 16–Apr 10, Apr 27–May 20) and a forum is set for March 10 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.  The Grants Pass Tribune

  • William, a bright seven-year-old with Duchenne muscular dystrophy from Southern Oregon, is set to undergo a groundbreaking CRISPR surgery that targets his specific genetic mutation.   • Oregon lawmakers approved legislation designating March 4 as HPV Awareness Day (Bill 4135) to boost HPV education, vaccination, and early screening; the measure helps families access tools to lower cancer risks.  The Grants Pass Tribune
