  • Relentless Heroes will host its second annual poker tournament on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Mary’s BBQ at the Club (230 Espey Road) starting at 2:00 p.m.; players join with a $75 buy-in and $25 bounty to support a local fundraising effort that welcomes both experienced and new participants.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Grants Pass will host the inspiring Ms. Wheelchair Oregon 2026 event on Feb. 28 at AllCare Health (this competition promotes advocacy and empowerment for women who use wheelchairs).  KDRV
  • Authorities confirmed on Feb. 20 that missing rafter Gabriel Vaughn was found alive two miles downstream from his last location near Greenwall Rapids; rescue teams including local volunteers and the Coast Guard coordinated a rugged search and will transport him to a regional hospital (condition unknown).  The Grants Pass Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • OSU Extension is launching a five-part Pasture Management Series for landowners and livestock producers starting March 17 at the Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center. Sessions run every other Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.—including one online session on April 28—and cost $15 per class.  The Grants Pass Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Oregon Senate approved Senate Bill 1598 (vote 17-11) to keep insurance plans covering preventive vaccines at no extra cost even if federal rules change. The measure now moves to the House for review to ensure Oregonians have affordable immunization access.  The Grants Pass Tribune
