- ➤ Grants Pass resident Roger Huffman, 83, is restoring two 1914 Fords — a Woody and a Roadster — to preserve local history; his passion for vintage vehicles shows the community how caring for the past keeps memories alive. Rogue River Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Rogue River School Board discussed updates to supplemental educational materials because of parent concerns over a video shown in a seventh-grade social studies class last fall at Rogue River. A new policy version may be released next month. Rogue River Press
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ BLM will begin a hazardous fuels reduction project in Cathedral Hills mid-February to lower fire risk near communities, working on 240 acres through October. A public meeting will be held on Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Fruitdale Grange to share project details & maps. KDRV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Grants Pass Chamber of Commerce CEO Terry Hopkins has been nominated to join the Oregon Business & Industry Board of Directors. The appointment, which strengthens local economic advocacy, comes as the board focuses on addressing HB 3115. KDRV
- ➤ The Evans Valley Fire District received a $15,000 grant today to purchase new firefighting helmets for volunteer personnel from the Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation. The funding will replace outdated gear to enhance safety. Rogue River Press

- ➤ Rogue River Jr. Sr. High player Sawyer Badley scored in the first half after driving past four St. Mary's defenders — his move stood out in a tight school game. Rogue River Press
