  • Community leaders, service providers, and residents will meet at the city council chambers today from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. to discuss homelessness solutions, including a presentation on veteran employment by Gail Bashans and a food drive for the local food bank.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Central Point and the Jackson County Expo announced that the 2026 Boomfest Fireworks Show will be the final celebration at the Expo grounds due to rising fire risks and development. A community zone for displays will be set up — options in Grants Pass and Eagle Point offer viewing events.  KDRV
  • Malakai, a year-and-a-half old, 46-pound, medium-sized dog, is ready for adoption at Josephine County Shelter. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Taxpayers filing electronically for the 2025 tax year via Revenue Online will likely receive refunds by Feb. 17 — paper filers face delays until early April. The Oregon Department of Revenue advises updating account details and requesting direct deposit to speed processing.  KDRV

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Home prices in Grants Pass and southern Oregon rose 20 to 30 percent in the past five years, with costs now in the mid $240s to upper $260s per sqft compared to higher statewide averages. Rising costs challenge buyers as wages lag behind market trends.  The Grants Pass Tribune
