BUSINESS NEWS

  • Andrew Gast resigned as general manager of Mt. Ashland Ski Area on Monday after accepting a new role. The board will begin its search for a replacement while the experienced team continues operations until his final day on Jan. 24.  KOBI-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Grants Pass city officials advanced the Parker’s Place shelter project after the Council awarded the Addressing Homelessness Grant seven weeks ago, and representatives now serve on an oversight panel to work with Elk Island Trading Company to complete safety and renovation upgrades at the urban shelter site this winter.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Tax season is starting soon for local residents as the IRS will begin accepting returns in late January and most filers must complete federal returns by April 15. Taxpayers are urged to gather documentation (like W-2 and 1099 forms) to streamline their filings.  The Grants Pass Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • Providence Southern Oregon announced Monday morning that Susan Sauder has been named chief executive for its Southern Oregon service area. She has served as interim chief executive since July and brings over three decades of health care finance experience (she previously worked in Arizona and Washington).  KOBI-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Mt. Ashland Ski Area will reopen tomorrow with limited terrain and lift operations as snow conditions gradually improve — the area will operate the Sonnet, Lithia and Comer chairlifts while keeping ungroomed terrain closed and planning twilight skiing for Thursday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.  KDRV
