  • State regulators approved a modest PacifiCorp rate cut for winter energy bills that will take effect in 2026, easing costs by less than $1 per month for residential, commercial & industrial customers. Updated cost forecasts and state law limiting winter rate hikes & ensuring reliable service led to the decision.  The Grants Pass Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Josephine Community Library now offers free, ad-free Kanopy streaming for cardholders, giving access to films, series, and documentaries on computers, tablets, and smart TVs. Residents can sign in via the library website (josephinelibrary.org) to enjoy educational and entertainment content immediately.  The Grants Pass Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Grants Pass has opened applications for its Tourism Promotion Grant program, offering funding from $2,500 to $5,000 for projects that boost sustainable tourist growth. Applications must be submitted online by 11:50 p.m. on Feb. 1.  The Grants Pass Tribune
  • Motorists should expect temporary closures on NW F Street between 4th and 6th and on 5th Street at intersections with E and F on Tuesday, Jan. 6 as contractors replace a rooftop chiller; work will start at 6:30 a.m. and end around 1 p.m. — detour routes are clearly marked.  The Grants Pass Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • Veterans in Southern Oregon report wait times of 12 to 24 months for care even though the VA showed a 57% reduction in disability claims backlog since Jan. 20; local clinics face canceled appointments and staff shortages (a frequent issue).  The Grants Pass Tribune
